Dr. Gilbert has provided supervision, training and consultation to unlicensed and licensed psychologists for 24 years and coordinated training programs at three different agencies.  In this workshop, Dr. Gilbert will describe what constitutes functional power, how to recognize dysfunctional power practices, how to train supervisees in functional power practices, and address the competent management of power and privilege issues in supervision and training.  In addition, she will discuss how agencies or organizations can best be structured to facilitate functional power practices.  The workshop includes the opportunity to discuss difficulties participants have encountered in supervision and training and how they might use the paradigm offered in the workshop to resolve such situations.
